Responding to early indications that the Navajo Generating Station (NGS) may close which, subsequently, would end mining operations at the Peabody Mine, the Hopi Office of Community Planning Economic Development and Land Information Services (CPEDLIS) engaged the services of Building Communities in 2017-2019 to conduct outreach meetings to each of the Hopi Villages to learn of top economic development projects that could address the forthcoming jobs and budget crisis.
Over 40 face-to-face meetings were conducted with the Villages to learn of such priority projects. A summary of this activity can be found below.
